Pony Dining The Rocks is proudly celebrating the many memories and milestones that have taken place at our establishment over the past 10 years! Our Pony team and loyal patrons have kindly shared their stories with us.

I started at Pony Dining on its’ very first day (that’s over 10 years!). Pony is one of the first restaurants to cook over wood and I would never want to cook over any other medium now. The open kitchen is great for interacting with guests, plus it’s always fun to see your food being prepared right before your hungry eyes. As the head chef at Pony Dining in The Rocks, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world. I have met so many amazing customers throughout the years and many I have become friends with; from brokers to builders to bikers. I have a lot of great memories while working at Pony but one that stands out most was speaking to the actor John Cleese, whom I’m a massive fan of. To say that I was star struck would be an understatement. Pony Dining is an incredible business and I’m proud to be at the helm of the kitchen 10 years on.

Our clientele is varied which keeps my job interesting.I met a couple recently celebrating their anniversary here who had their initial proposal at Pony. I love witnessing work functions that start off quite stiff and formal, and by the end there’s a wonderful wine fuelled camaraderie around the table. But my favourite is seeing friendships strike up when people get chatting to those sitting next to them on the communal table, and what was maybe 3 separate couples end up all in conversation, it makes a great atmosphere. There’s nothing like good food and drink for bringing people together. Pony’s lasting impression starts with our friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service. Our stand out feature is Pony’s signature wood fire grill. Once you’ve experienced a great piece of meat cooked over the grill, it’s very hard to find another steak that lives up to the taste.

As I enter the 4th year of my second stint working at Pony Dining in the Rocks, it really is a perfect opportunity to sit back & reflect on how far the venue has come, Pony truly is a dining experience like no other in Sydney. Coming from a family heavily involved within hospitality, I have had the opportunity to work all around the world in some fantastic venues & you'll see some of the different cultural influences within our cocktail list. Of course if you're visiting Sydney it's a must to try our range of local beers, spirits & wines. If you see me behind the bar, don't be afraid to come & say hello!

" What I enjoy most about Pony is the consistently good food, great cocktails and friendly staff. One of the best steaks in Sydney too with the dry aged rib eye on the bone, plus the delicious burgers. Pony has a flexible menu so you can pop in for a quick bite, or stay for a few hours with sharing plates and mains. We keep coming back for the steak, chilli coconut martinis and friendly staff. "
